Putting my art out there…

Letting Go: Donating My First Miniature Artworks

Until now, all of my art has been fairly hard to find—and that’s mostly been by design. I tend to get deeply attached to each piece I create. Letting go has always been the hard part.

But this week, that changed.

For the first time, I released five miniature works of art out into the world. It felt like the right moment, and I wanted my first experience sharing my art to be meaningful—so I chose to do it through a charity.

These pieces have been donated to Radiant Community Arts, a nonprofit organization based in Eugene, Oregon. They do incredible work offering art classes, gallery exhibitions, and community events that help keep creativity alive and accessible.

Each of my donated pieces reflects the direction my style is starting to take—landscapes and whimsical content that make me feel something, and hopefully, others too. I’m still exploring and evolving, but it’s exciting to see my own voice begin to take shape.

If you’re in the area, I’d love for you to come out and support the cause. The silent auction will be held on September 21st, at the Fifth Street Alley in Eugene, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.

It’s a small step for my art, but a big one for me.

Bubbles in Moonlight ~ Process

I’m trying something new this summer. I bought three wicker mats at our local discount store. I decided to paint on each one to create a mural for our back fence. Painting on wicker was interesting and challenging. The texture of the wicker caused the paint to blend in unexpected ways. It adds a nice effect to the finished work. I’m excited to share with you my process to create “Bubbles in Moonlight.” It is the first in the series of wicker mat murals. ‘Bubbles in Moonlight,’ an original acrylic painting by DVD © 2025

Waterfall Fairies

Original Artwork by DVD © 2025

My second waterfall piece for 2025 is finished. I decided to add some whimsical elements to this work. I’m pleased with the fairies in this painting. They make the painting feel fun. I used a wooden black craft board and Golden Heavy Body acrylic paint for this piece. The photo doesn’t show the ‘interference’ paint glow of the fairies, moon, stars, waterfall, and bubbles. It gives them a sparkling quality. ‘Waterfall Fairies,’ an original acrylic painting by DVD © 2025
